About
For a decade I was a volunteer monitor for The Sea Pines Bluebird Project. I managed 12 Eastern Bluebird nest boxes 6 months a year. I typically saw 28 species of birds, plus mammals and reptiles. I'm a member of the Orange Audubon Society, National Audubon Society, World Parrot Trust, Defenders of Wildlife, and The Oasis Sanctuary. My pet bird is a Panama Amazon named Freedom the Parrot. He is 27 years old, and I adopted him from Feathered Friends Forever Rescue/Sanctuary in December 2011. He is my best friend, and together we are avian ambassadors. I had a cherished Yellow Fronted Amazon Parrot named Boo for 20 years. I have 27,000 videos on Karen Marts YouTube, with 10,000 more to publish. I strive to showcase animals in their natural environment, and take day trips to film exotic species at zoos and sanctuaries. I resided on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for 34 years. December 1, 2021 Freedom the Parrot and I moved to Oviedo, Florida!
