Press the ENTIRE SERIES at the bottom, and you’ll see Freedom the Parrot in his “summer” travel cage. We’ve been documenting all of the island’s trees/flowers/plants since April. (see him playing soccer to see how clever he is) Scroll down to Alligator doing the HIGH WALK, and see it in motion! Also see the Alligator CRAWLING OUT OF IBIS POND! In the next few days, I’ll be adding LAWTON STABLES ROOKERY. These tiny Tri-Colored Herons, Great Egrets, and Little Blue Herons (white when young) will amaze you! Have a super day!
New videos are added weekly! Freedom the Parrot at Feathered Friends Forever Rescue & Sanctuary; Barred, Great Horned, and Screech Owls at the Coastal Discovery Museum; numerous videos of wading birds at Pinckney Island; animals native to South Carolina from the Animal Forest in Charlestown Landing, Charleston, SC; and Hilton Head Island birds, turtles, rabbits, and deer from summertime 2015.
There are fascinating videos from the Edisto Island Serpentarium. It is a 2 hour drive from Hilton Head Island. They offer educational shows on snakes and alligators, and are opened seasonally. They are closed November-March. They have an amazing indoor exhibit room with individual snakes in glass enclosures, and snakes that are loose in a tropical atrium. I was impressed with their fossil exhibits! Outdoors are venomous and non-venomous habitats for snakes, fascinating turtle species, alligators, crocodiles, and several tortoise species. A snack bar is available, and it is a great place to take the family. See how I had to remove Yellow Rat Snakes from Bluebird boxes this past summer…it was a bit unnerving!

Along the same theme of snakes, alligators, crocodiles, and turtles: I happened to stop in at South of the Border recently, the famous roadside attraction, in Dillon, South Carolina. Intending to just pick up a seashell or bird magnet in Pedro’s Myrtle Beach Shop, while carrying Freedom the Parrot in his travel cage, we ended up at the Reptile Lagoon. We met Milo the Parrot, and did several videos, and the next thing you know I filmed for 3 ½ hours inside the largest indoor reptile exhibit in the USA! See 54 videos on amazing colorful animals!
In the spring I filmed alligators, wading birds, exotic birds, mammals, & various reptiles at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm & Zoological Park, in Florida. I also filmed bears, bobcats, and interesting birds such as the Burrowing Owl, White Pelicans, Flamingos, & Roseate Spoonbills at Homosassa Springs, Florida. Also, you will see BABY Bluebirds, Brown Headed Nuthatches, Great Egrets, Tri-Colored Herons, & Snowy Egrets from Hilton Head Island…it is a wonderful time of year to see nesting birds!
Be sure to see the endangered Piping Plovers! See Tired Piping Plover Hops on 1 Foot, Protected from the Wind, Sanderling Races Around & Piping Plover Preens, and Piping Plover Rests on Beach. Only 6,500 birds are left in the world! I recently filmed a Fox Squirrel (pet)at Jarvis Creek; Killdeer, Hawk, and a Barred Owl in Sea Pines; and incredible Cardinals, Yellow Rumped and Pine Warblers at Jarvis Creek. There was an amazing Red-Tailed Hawk at Pinckney Island, along with a Belted Kingfisher, and secretive Common Moorhens. I filmed a Wood Stork, Great Blue Heron, and Snowy Egret at Shelter Cove Marina…these are very graceful birds.I just filmed Phenomenal Fast Flying Hooded Mergansers in Sea Pines Plantation, which are amazing! There is a Bald Eagle at Shelter Cove Marina, and an Iridescent Northern Shoveler Dabbling Duck at Savannah National Wildlife Refuge, which are incredible birds! The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge has an amazing array of wading birds, ducks, songbirds, and raptors. You can simply drive on the 4 mile loop, stopping occasionally to see birds. Scroll back a little to the WOOD STORK videos taken in Sea Pines…I was able to get fairly close to them, and did a bit of education on their life history.
Most of the videos were filmed on Hilton Head Island; however, in November 2014, I visited Feathered Friends Forever with Freedom the Parrot, my pet bird. I added some incredible MACAW videos. Look for the “feather plucking”, “Blue & Gold, Green Winged Macaw”, “Rose Breasted Cockatoo”, and “Red Fronted Macaw & Sulfur Crested Cockatoo” videos. Also the Moluccan & Umbrella Cockatoos Win Your Heart video is amazing. Scroll back to Amazing Amazon Parrots Outdoors, Blue Fronted Amazons on Swing, and Parrot Importation History to see beautiful Amazon Parrots, and to learn about these fascinating exotic birds. See “Freedom the Parrot in Travel Cage Visits Birds at Feathered Friends Forever”, and you will see my Panama Amazon Parrot spend time with his former cage mates in The Greeter Aviary. Freedom flew freely outdoors for 3 years. Feather Friends Forever is the largest parrot rescue organization in the United States, with 1,500 parrots in residence currently. This includes Macaws, Cockatoos, Lovebirds, Cockatiels, African Greys, Amazons, Conures and Parakeets. I try to provide a bit of history, education, and fun facts about the birds in each video. Thank you for watching!
Hope you get to watch all of the videos…the rare Snowy Owl, Long-Tailed Duck, Harlequin Duck, Raccoons, Deer, Painted Buntings, and the fascinating ducks and exotic birds at Sylvan Heights Bird Park. There are informational videos on Pinckney Island featuring Wood Ducks, White Ibis, Green Herons, Black Crowned Night Herons, Little Blue Herons, Tri-Colored Herons, Great Egrets, and Snowy Egrets. At the bottom of the page, press view more to see the summer of 2014. On occasion I do day trips to Savannah National Wildlife Refuge, Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge, and surrounding areas.
Enjoy all the wildlife videos, and feel free to share with everyone!
